Faith Over Fear: Restarting After Layoff with God’s Guidance

I've been feeling prompted a lot lately to create content, to write, and overall just share my story. In obedience to God, I am creating this blog as a place to catch all of my thoughts and combine faith, fashion, and business.

Today, May 1st, is the National Day of Prayer, and the Lord woke me up an hour or so before our 6:30 am prayer call, had some quiet time with my thoughts, and decided today is the day I launched this blog. No more second-guessing, just putting it out there.

In case we've never met, let me introduce myself.

Hey y’all! I’m Tyesha, the face and heart behind Overdressed Jewels.

I restarted this business after being laid off and I've been a full-time entrepreneur since the top of the year (more on this later). It has been unexpected, very scary, and my business doesn't meet my financial needs yet, but I believe in Proverbs 3:5-6. The NIV version is most widely stated, but the Amplified Bible expands it more, and I am using that to meditate on today:

5-Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind, and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6- In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

That’s exactly what I’m doing on this entrepreneurial journey. I am going to God for wisdom and guidance, and taking my eyes off of what I see right now, being confident in the Lord, knowing that he will direct me and make my path straight and plain.

This isn’t just about selling jewelry, clothing, and accessories. It’s about showing up boldly, walking in faith, and encouraging you to do the same. Galatians 6:9 (AMP) reminds me: “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faith.”

Every piece I share is a reminder to adorn yourself with beauty, confidence, and trust in God’s timing. If you’re here, I believe He placed you here to be part of this community.

Let’s grow, shine, and stay overdressed — together!

What are you trusting God with right now? What dreams in your heart need a bit more of an injection of courage and faith? If you're starting the month trusting God or just need a new journal, because don't we all, here's one to grab that goes with today's scripture: https://amzn.to/3EXR1ga

A few goals I have for today:

  • Create a photo space for taking photos.
  • Take photos of clothing and jewelry pieces and upload them to my website. (My website needs a major overhaul, but I'm doing it one step at a time)
  • Rework my website to reflect the preloved and new with tags pieces.

Feel free to comment below with your thoughts! And if you're looking for a way to update and overdress your wardrobe, watch one of my live shows on Facebook, take a peek through the website, or send me a message through the chat function here on the site, and let's get you some pretty stuff!

I'm Cheering You On and Praying for You,

Tyesha
